Up to the top of Besseggen part 1

Then the day of climbing finally arrived. We woke up  at half past 6 in the morning and went right down for some good breakfast. You also got small bags to make some sandwiches to bring on the walk.

Then we went down to the docks were you can leave your big bags. And then the boat will drive them over to Gjendesheim dock, where you can go and get them when you arrive on the other side.

We managed to be all done for 9 o´clock and started the long walk. Uselly it takes 6 – 8 hours to walk the whole way. You also have the possibility to climb a lot of other mountains round Besseggen if you want to stay for a couple of extra days.

When you walk Besseggen it is very important to follow the path and look after the big red T´s. Not only because it it very dangerous to get lost in the mountains, but also because you can destroy a lot of endangered vegetation.

Its a long trip and it so much beautiful things I want to show you. So day 3 is divided in two. This time I end it at Bessvatnet, we took a break here. The water is very clean and cold, so its a nice place to chill down and refill your water bottle. One thing that is really important is to use sun cream, because you are closer to the sun and its no shadows anywhere it is really easy to get sun burned.

To be continued.

Up and away

And then the day was here. I was the one driving to Besseggen and I have to admit it was a bit difficult for the GPS, since we didn’t really have a specific address. So we had to go in for a address close by and find the way from there. But we did make it.

Then we took a minibus in to Gjendesheim where we had to wait for the next boat. Then we took the boat over to Memurubu. Here you can put up a tent for free or as me and my mom did stay at the lovely hotel there.

We had a lovely dinner in real norwegian stile and a very cute room with a lovely view. A good start. We had a early night so we would be able to get up early the next day.
